This game is a blast. It takes the trading from Settlers of Catan but makes it that much simpler so you won't have to spend 2 hours + for a game. It also spans 2 to 7 players. The 2 player game is pretty bland with no trading so at least 3 players to bring out the best of the game. More players = more chaos and good fun. My group loves the game because it encourages give and take. We're practically helping each other in the game rather than cutthroat trying to win. Players are free to play any way they wish, whether cutthroat or less.
In summary, simple game, easy to teach, spans a party of 7, very good fun.
The downside of this game, in my opinion, would be the box. I sleeve my cards so that they can last longer due to the immense amount of shuffling in between rounds. Now they won't fit properly in the box insert. So i took the insert out but now they shuffle around in the box so much that i had to make my own insert out of cardboard.

Is This Game For You?
I think this game is great for all ages. However in all fairness, I think it may not float so well with people who would calculate if it's worth selling their grandmothers to win a game. The trading aspect may bring out the darker side of people you've never seen before and I think is actually best approached by a group that doesn't give away freebies but at the same time is generous enough to extend a helping hand when another Player just needs to get rid of that irritating first card in their hand.
So if your gaming group is looking for a game that encourages loads and loads of interaction and you want something that you can use to spend time playing with the kids (to appease the wife), Bohnanza is THE game for you!
